What is a West Suburban Bank Gift Card?The West Suburban Bank Gift Card is the perfect gift for every occasion – it’s the only gift that let’s you buy what you really want! Where can I use the card?You can use the card anywhere Visa debit is accepted. You can also use it at any ATM machine displaying either the Star or Cirrus logo. Certain fees may apply. How does the card work?The West Suburban Bank Gift Card works like a Visa card, except that purchases are deducted from the card’s available balance rather than being made on credit. When the card balance reaches zero or the card expires (whichever comes first), the card may no longer be used. Do I need to activate my card?No. Your gift card is activated at the time of purchase. Please be aware of this if you are sending a card by mail. What if my purchase transactions are being declined? Is my card working properly?Your card is probably working, as it should. Some transactions are declined because the purchase transaction is greater than the value on the card. The merchant does not know your card's balance. You must tell them to "split" the ticket, placing only the card's value on one ticket and using another form of payment for the balance. Also, cards may be declined at restaurants because the restaurant automatically adds an anticipated tip amount to the card authorization, which may bring the total over your available card balance. When using your card at a restaurant be sure your card has enough value to cover the ticket plus a 20% tip amount - even if you don't plan to tip that much or want to leave your tip in cash. Why are holds being placed on my account?Balances reflect the amount of all transactions that have been processed. Some locations (i.e., restaurants, hotels, etc.) impose temporary holds on their charges. This is particularly prevalent at restaurants that often send in an authorization request for not only the total ticket, but an estimated tip as well. Once actual charges have been authorized, these holds are removed and your balance and available funds will be updated accordingly. Can I change my PIN?Yes. You can change your PIN by either calling 1-866-276-5110 or by visiting here. Certain fees may apply. What if my purchase amount is for more than the value on the card?If your total purchase is for more than the card’s value, tell the merchant to split the ticket. Place the card’s balance on one ticket and use another form of payment for the balance. Ex. If you have a $50 gift card and wish to purchase something for $68, simply pay the $18 with another form of payment and the balance with your $50 gift card. Can I use my card to buy gas?Yes. However, you will have to go inside to pay with your card. The cards may not be used to "pay-at-the-pump" as cards do not work at the gas pump. How do I use my card to make cash withdrawals at ATMs?To withdraw cash from an ATM, enter your PIN and choose "Checking Withdrawal". Be sure you have enough funds on the card to cover the $1.50 issuer fee and any ATM surcharges added by the ATM owner. What if I lose my PIN?You will not be able to make cash withdrawals at ATMs or check your balance. You may, however, continue to use your card to make purchases. Can lost or stolen cards be replaced?Yes. If your card has been lost or stolen, and it can be verified that you are the original cardholder, we will replace your card less the fee listed in your terms and conditions. Is credit extended on the account?The West Suburban Bank Gift Card is good only for the amount of funds loaded onto the card at the time of purchase. No credit is extended on the account. How do I know how much money is on the card?You may check your balance here, or by calling 1-866-276-5110. Certain fees may apply. You will need your card account number and PIN to check your balance. You may NOT check your balance at the checkout, nor do store receipts print your available balance. Be sure you have available funds prior to making your purchase. Are there any monthly fees associated with the card?After your card expires, a fee, as indicated in your terms and conditions, will be assessed. How do I use my card for making purchases at retail locations?When making purchases at retail locations, tell the merchant to process your purchase as a "credit" transaction. Can I use my card for making purchases over the Internet?To make an online purchase, address verification is usually required. The West Suburban Bank Gift Card does not have your address associated with it and therefore may be declined. Can I use my card to get a cash advance at a bank?Yes. A fee as indicated in your terms and conditions will be assessed for this transaction. Can I use my card more than once?Yes. You can use your card as often as you like, as long as there are available funds. Does the card expire?Yes. The card expiration date is printed on the front of the card.
